Science SOL 4.3 Electric People |
If a contribution is something helpful that is given to others, usually a payment, then a SCIENTIFIC CONTRIBUTION is something helpful in science that is given to others to use. * * * The three people you will learn about are Benjamin Franklin Michael Faraday Thomas Edison |
What is a SCIENTIFIC CONTRIBUTION? |
He conducted an experiment with a key (conductor), kite (insulator), string (insulator), and lightning (source). First he connected the kite to a string, then he connected a key to the end of the string, and waited for the lightning to strike. Benjamin Franklin invented the lightning rod so that people would be able to protect their homes and other buildings from lightning. REMEMBER: Benjamin Franklin did NOT INVENT electricity! He discovered that lightning is a form of electricity. Think STATIC!! |
magnet. He discovered the electromagnetlarge conductor. When the magnet is spun it forms a large conductor. When the magnet is spun it forms a static charge that will give off electricity. static charge that will give off electricity. IT'S ELECTRIC!! |

You can make an ELECTROMAGNET! You will need the items seen in the picture. |
He was a great inventor and conducted many experiments. He invented the electric light bulb. He realized that a bulb can have light once a full circuit is completed within it. He did this to help people stay affordable to everyone. THINK LIGHT!!! |
